Vikram Bhatt's Haunted-3D is a 2011 Indian horror film. Even though it sounds strange, the film has been widely recognized thanks to its quality story and music, which have become very popular. Haunted was made for a cost of Rs. 13 crores, and had no trouble generating revenue; however, the final gross amount was approximately Rs. 37.03 crores; thus, it had ended with a profit. Haunted Part 2: Echoes of the Past will be air on screen in 2026, at which time the first teaser will be released (the original title of the film was changed multiple times). However the teaser was a let down to fans and caused a lot of negative comments via social media.

Storyline

The story of the teaser is a one minute and twenty-nine second preview of Mimoh Chakraborty as he once again finds himself in an area that is haunted by ghosts and supernatural forces. The story occurs within an isolated house and hints that the events in the original film will continue in this sequel with similar scary occurrences taking place. Video footage reveals an actor dealing with items he can’t see and images from his history. The trailer presents a somewhat dark mystery but does not provide much of the story.

Positive Points

One of the most positive aspects of the teaser is that it tries to keep the original film’s scary atmosphere alive. The music in the background adds to the build-up of suspense and appears to be the start of what could be a very good soundtrack. The presence of Mimoh Chakraborty also helps link the fans of the first movie to the current movie. Reliving a haunted past may still be possible, and if done properly, should be a good story for the overall movie.

Negative Points

One issue with the teaser is that almost all of it appears to rely too much on CGI, giving it a sort of artificial-looking quality setting compared to actual filming of many different locations around the world. Because of this, people feel like the effects are both dated and badly done, making the entire film unwatchable. The teaser did not give the audience a reason to view the film as horror based on the trailer.

Overall: Haunted 3D Echoes Of The Past fails to meet the expectations set forth by the first film. There is a unifying theme of supernatural horror throughout both films through their use of CGI, however, the lack of quality graphics and creativity exhibited in the trailer makes me believe there is virtually no possibility of the film living up to its full potential at the box office on the whole. With a June 12th, 2026 release date and a brutal battle with other films at the box office, I envision no way in which nostalgia can help propel this movie to success.
