NAFCUB Announces Co-op Kumbh 2025 Global Conference To Empower Digital Transformation In Cooperative Banking Sector

A press conference was held at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi to formally announce the upcoming international conference, “Co-op Kumbh 2025,” organized by the National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies (NAFCUB). This apex organization represents over 1,500 urban cooperative banks (UCBs) and approximately 60,000 credit societies across the country.

Two-Day Global Conference 

This two-day global conference will be held on November 10-11, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, supported by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. The conference, themed “Digitizing Dreams – Empowering Communities,” is a landmark event in India's cooperative journey and will also celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.

Objective of the Conference 

The objective of this conference is to bring together policymakers, regulators, cooperative leaders, technical experts, international partners, and academics to pave the way for a digitally empowered and inclusive cooperative credit ecosystem.

A Collective Movement l

Addressing the media, Mr. Laxmi Das, President, NAFCUB, said, “Co-op Kumbh 2025 is not just a conference, but a collective movement to redefine cooperative finance in the digital age. Through dialogue, innovation, and shared vision, we strive to empower communities and strengthen the cooperative foundation of financial inclusion.”

Special Focus on Technological Advancements and International Cooperation 

Co-op Kumbh 2025 will focus on topics such as policy innovation, good governance reforms, technological advancements, and international cooperation. Discussions will also consider how to enhance professionalism, promote transparency, and accelerate the digital transformation of urban cooperative banks and credit societies, in line with the Government of India's "Sahakar Se Samriddhi" mission.

Chief Guests 

Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperatives, Shri Amit Shah, will be the Chief Guest at the inaugural session of the event. Shri Suresh Prabhu, Chairman, National Cooperative Policy Committee (Government of India), former Chairman, Saraswat Cooperative Bank, former Board Member, NAFCUB and NCUI, and former Union Cabinet Minister, will preside over the closing session.

Sessions on a Variety of Topics 

The conference will feature sessions on a variety of topics, including corporate governance and professionalism in cooperative banking, the role of NUCFDC and collaboration among cooperatives, technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation, the role of women and youth in cooperatives—leadership, innovation, and inclusion, and discussions on credit unions and financial inclusion within an international dialogue.

Sharing Global Experience and Innovation 

Experts from the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), Greenstone Farm Credit Services (USA), and leading cooperative partners in India will share their global experiences and innovations.

Addressing the media, Mr. Jyotindra Mehta, Chairman, NUCFDC, said, “Co-op Kumbh 2025 marks a new era for the cooperative credit movement. It is a confluence of ideas, innovation, and inclusion; where technology and trust come together. Our goal is to create a digitally empowered cooperative ecosystem that ensures prosperity for every member of society.”

Expected Outcomes of the Conference 

Expected outcomes of the conference include the adoption of the “Delhi Declaration 2025,” policy recommendations for the Ministry of Cooperation, the Reserve Bank of India, and state governments, the establishment of new partnerships and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between domestic and international cooperative institutions, the creation of a knowledge base on digital innovation and good governance, and the empowerment of women and youth leadership in the cooperative movement.
