BTS Mexico Concert Turns Into Massive Purple Festival As 40,000 ARMYs Gather Outside Stadium
The world-famous band from Korea, BTS, is enchanting many fans around the world. BTS has now made headlines with their current "Arirang World Tour" and reported new record numbers of fans attending concerts in Mexico City. The boy band is on track to set even more records for themselves by hosting three consecutive nights of sold-out performances at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, with not just tens of thousands of fans attending inside the venue but also huge crowds outside!
Social media is full of videos showcasing the extreme enthusiasm of BTS’ ARMY and their presence at the concerts, as well as at an estimated 40,000 fans outside the venue during each concert night who were not able to gain entry to the stadium. Fans shared footage online showing the main plaza area being transformed into one giant purple-themed celebration with ARMY members singing BTS songs together, dancing in groups, waving light sticks, and sharing stickers that they made while experiencing the events outside of the stadium venue!

This post went viral when another fan noted that although there was a limit on the number of tickets (approximately 65,000) being sold for the concert there were thousands more who remained outside on the second night of the concert, thus bringing the total attendance for each of the three concerts (May 7, 9 and 10) to approximately 100,000 ARMYs in attendance at the same time. Fans described these concerts as evidence that BTS is an incredibly popular global artist and that ARMYs share a bond with BTS across the globe.

During the Arirang World Tour, BTS visited Mexico City on May 7, May 9 and May 10 where they performed over three nights and many fans travelled to that location to see these shows which helped to generate a large amount of business and tourism for Mexico City. The economic benefit of tourism from the concerts produced a substantial amount of economic activity throughout the time the concerts took place. Following their performances in Mexico City, the next concert will occur at Stanford Stadium, Stanford California on May 16-19. After closing out the concert at Stanford Stadium, BTS will then continue on their tour performing at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on May 23, 24, 27 & 28.
