Money Heist Fans Excited After Netflix Drops Mysterious New Franchise Teaser
The universe of Money Heist is not done yet. Netflix just released a surprise announcement teaser video announcing the return of the globally successful franchise created by Alex Pina. This teaser has created a lot of excitement amongst fans. While Netflix has yet to formally announce whether this next installment will be Money Heist season 6, a new spin off or even Berlin season 3, it has generated a lot of social media interest.
The one minute announcement teaser revisits the historical progression of La Casa de Papel, reminding viewers of how it has developed into one of the most successful television shows of all time from when it began as exactly what it says - a robbery drama. The teaser opens up with "It started as money and then it evolved into gold and wealth and valuables" and indicates that "The revolution continues." Netflix also said that the next instalment of the Money Heist universe has already started.
This new announcement comes just 5 days prior to the release of Berlin season 2 which airs on May 15th 2023. The spin off series is focused primarily on Andres de Fonollosa - Berlin played by Pedro Alonso and focuses on stylish heists filled with romance, intelligence, high stakes and action rather than the original series.
The second season will reportedly follow Berlin and his gang in targeting the Duke of Málaga, Spain, after completing their heist in France last season. Returning cast members include Michelle Jenner as Keila, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña Fernández as Roi, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce. New cast additions include Inma Cuesta, José Luis García-Pérez, and Marta Nieto.
The series is written by Álex Pina, first aired on Antena 3 (a Spanish Network) in 2017 but gained popularity after being distributed by Netflix to thousands of viewers around the world. The plot follows the mastermind, known only as "The Professor," and his crew of thieves as they execute several major heists on the Royal Mint of Spain as well as the Bank of Spain.
After the last season was broadcast back in 2021, there are also new materials being developed for the franchise, demonstrating the ongoing strength of the brand!
