BTS To Make Special Appearance At American Music Awards 2026 After Four-Year Gap
BTS, the global K-Pop icon, will officially make their return to the American Music Awards 2026 after a four-year absence. Fans from around the world are already abuzz with excitement for their “special appearance” on May 25th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas after months of anticipation since the announcement of their special appearance.
This seven-member group is nominated for three categories at this year’s event: artist of the year, song of the summer (for “swim”), and best K-Pop artist. In 2021, they won the artist of the year award, being the first group to accomplish this honor since One Direction and breaking the then-3-time winner (Taylor Swift) streak for this award.
In 2026, BTS continues their worldwide domination in the entertainment industry, and they just extended their No. 1 streak on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Swim.” The group’s latest album, ARIRANG, topped the Billboard 200 for multiple weeks and is now the only BTS studio album to be No. 1 for more than one week in a row. As of BTS' recent week on top of the chart, they are firmly establishing their global presence.
At the American Music Awards in 2017, BTS performed their debut song ("DNA") at the first American venue and made history as the first all-Korean group to ever have performed at such a venue. Their momentous performance paved the way for the eruption of Korean music into the global music scene.
BTS has captured an impressive 11 American Music Awards to date, making them the second most awarded artist in history for that award show - only Alabama (23 total AMAs) has won more than them!
The 2026 American Music Awards will be broadcast live on CBS/Paramount+ and available for live stream through Paramount+. Hosted by Queen Latifah, this year's AMAs are expected to bring about an unforgettable evening, including a special segment featuring BTS, one of the largest music awards show audiences ever assembled worldwide.
