The Revolutionaries, this ambitious period drama from Prime Video. The starcast features Rohit Saraf, Bhuvan Bam, Gurfateh Pirzada and Pratibha Ranta During India's struggle for independence, the series represents  the story of a group of young revolutionaries actively which is rising up against British authority with the bravery and conviction. The series, led by director Nikkhil Advani, will contain all the action, emotion, and historical depth one expects from such a show; but will also focus on the journey of brave young men and women seeking justice, liberty, and freedom.

Storyline

This television series produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in 1912 occurs many years after the 1857 Indian Rebellion and follows the lives of four young men living under British colonial administration, who choose to revolt against the British government. The series depicts how the main characters - namely, Rash Behari Bose and Sachindranath Sanyal - were both real Historical figures, have developed over time to become leaders in a violent uprising against British colonialism in India. A key theme of the series will be the journey of courage, conviction, standing against the British Raj (government), opposing British colonialism and representing an oppressed nation and the emotional experience associated with taking such actions on behalf of their country.

Positive Points

The Revolutionaries is a visually stunning show of a big scale with very believable period sets. Fast Pace & Action-packed Sequences with Epic View. Emotion creates depth of feeling in moments of the film. Surprising Outcomes in Casting as well as Surprising Newness to Casting. For many viewers, seeing Bhuyvan Bam take on dramatic roles would indeed be surprising. The exploration of underrepresented revolutionaries should offer some very different points of view regarding freedom and independence as the series expands upon the accomplishments of those less recognized in the fight for freedom.

Negative Points

While there seems to be some strong potential for this show, the teaser suggests that the storytelling style may be familiar - ie: it appears like many other period dramas that we have seen. There appears to be some potential for a lot of drama to be used in the telling of this story, as many action sequences appear to be styled versus helping to develop the character's nuances. In addition, the multiple character arcs may also present a challenge for the storytelling; hopefully the series will be able to keep these characters from becoming one-dimensional heroes.

Overall: The Revolutionaries appears to be a compelling blend of action, historical drama and emotion. If done well, this series could be an incredible tribute to the unsung heroes of India. Although there are likely to be doubts regarding the predictability of the story, the great premise, stunning imagery and great acting make it one of the more anticipated releases on Prime Video.
