Raakh First Look Review: Ali Fazal Leads Prime Video’s Dark Crime Thriller Series With Intense Mystery
Prime Video's latest crime drama Raakh is sure to captivate audiences with its gripping and arresting teaser. The show stars Ali Fazal alongside an amazing supporting cast which includes Sonali Bendre, Aamir Bashir, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Rakesh Bedi. Raakh also features dark and gritty storytelling, and will be directed by Prosit Roy who previously handled direction for Paatal Lok. This series promises a mystery, crime, and deep psychological content as it sets the tone for what is to come over the next several weeks — thrillers set in contemporary India.
STORYLINE
The main story is about two teenage boys who go missing, and how those two boys affect the lives of their close family and ultimately change the way that the rest of the city feels about them. Ali Fazal portrays an unyielding police officer who is on a mission to find out what happened to these two boys and begins a manhunt for the people responsible. Thus far, the series has revealed a multitude of layers regarding various forms of crime, violence, and the evil that exists within the human soul through Raakh. In addition, viewers will discover the full extent of the emotional confusion and societal ramifications caused by such events from Raakh's storyline as opposed to just following the process of solving a case like most conventional crime dramas.
POSITIVE POINTS
This show may be patterned off an existing template that has been used in multiple crime thrillers focusing on the theme of missing persons and investigation. If there is no original twist(s) or in-depth character growth then it stands a chance of becoming too predictable. The dark tone of the show has a potential to grow repetitive if they do not incorporate at least some lighter emotional beats. Also, with so many characters it may be difficult for them to develop all of the characters fully.
