Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship phone the Xiaomi 17, has already created a buzz in the world of technology, especially after its China launch. Some of the eye-catching specs on paper, the reality feels a bit underwhelming when compared to other flagships in the same segment of phone. With a strong processor and a huge massive battery, the phone doesn’t bring anything groundbreaking to the table. It does feel like Xiaomi playing it safe rather than innovating the way it used to.

Key Features (and Shortcomings)

  • Display: The Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh and FHD+ resolution. It is smooth and crisp but slightly too small for a flagship, and the brightness isn't at the level of Samsung or iPhone. This can be a con for the multimedia consumers.
  • Performance: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 12GB RAM, performance is no doubt powerful. However, heavy gaming and extended multitasking cause noticeable heating. Xiaomi’s optimization still feels a bit inconsistent.

  • Camera: On paper, that triple 50MP camera arrangement sounds spectacular, but in reality, the performance is ordinary.
  • Battery: The 7000mAh battery sounds big on paper, but it does not always translate to excellent backup. It is a day with average usage, and heavy users might Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 17, has already created quite a buzz in the tech world, especially after its China launch. It's a day of moderate usage, and the heavy users can expect it to last less than they would think. 100W fast charging is fast but still produces sufficient heat.
  • Design & Build: While Xiaomi says it's premium and thin, the design itself is repetitive and is not eye-catching. Punch-hole and glass back are not new in 2025 flagship smartphones.

Price & Verdict: Even though Xiaomi is yet to reveal the India price, it would fall in the ₹70,000–₹75,000 range. Priced like that, it would have to contend with Samsung, OnePlus, and iQOO — all three of which provide smoother performance and camera setups and it burning through its battery more quickly than they would like. The 100W fast charging, while speedy, still generates plenty of heat.
