Janta Unmuted Launched By The Unheard Voice: A Bold Step Toward Amplifying India’s Unheard Stories
Janta Unmuted

In a landmark moment for independent Indian journalism, The Unheard Voice officially launched its flagship socio-political quarterly magazine, Janta Unmuted, at Hotel Jaypee Siddhartha, Rajendra Place, New Delhi. The Unheard Voice has crossed an important milestone for independent journalism in India with the launch of its flagship socio-political quarterly magazine, Janta Unmuted. The event revolved around an amazing cross-section of thought leaders, changemakers, and media personalities, and convened to launch a new initiative that is devoted to amplifying the unheard and oft-ad neglected voices of India's pluralistic society.

As a magazine that aspires to transform silence into strength, and conversation into action, Janta Unmuted's vision is to create a space that captures attention for the public good, stimulates civic engagement, and fosters a platform based on inclusion for public deliberation on social issues. The inaugural issue addresses substantive issues such as disability-inclusive workplaces, women’s rights, civic facilities, and everyday experiences of marginalization and systemic inequality.

In her remarks at the launch, Bhawna Malik, Editor-in-Chief of Janta Unmuted, stated, “Janta Unmuted is born from a simple truth - there’s power in listening. Only when talking about issues in governance, alone or alongside a close partner, can we share in discussions concerning concerns of governance, life as a single woman, being an elder, or disability, in everyday discussion, these issues rarely find their way to being discussed in (some might say) ‘mainstream’ dialogue. Yet, we will try our best to make space. Every voice matters- that is our motto.”

The launch ceremony featured several prestigious guests to include IPS Kiran Sethi (Lady Singham), Sub Inspector, Delhi Police; Mr. Manish Anand, Editor, The Raisina Hills.com; Mr. Sudhir Saluja, Founder and Editor, Sanidhya Times; Tridivesh Singh Maini, Policy Analyst and Academics; Ms. Vindri Kaur Suri, Chairperson - Women empowerment. Each speaker stressed the importance of allowing common citizens to tell their story, and highlighted how this would add to the sociopolitical discourse and the rich democratic fabric of India.

Much applause followed the launch of the 1st edition of the magazine acknowledging the beautiful visual aesthetics and editorial depth. With Janta Unmuted, The Unheard Voice begins a movement that reminds us — when silence has room to breathe, it speaks volumes.
