Mahindra XEV 9S: Review, Price, Images, Colours & More
Mahindra XEV 9S

Mahindra is preparing to make a big splash in the electric SUV segment with the introduction of the XEV 9S, a fully electric, 7-seater SUV built on the maker's new INGLO skateboard architecture. The XEV 9S brings a spirited design language, plenty of futuristic features, and a promise of performance to the already-strong electric vehicle (EV) line-up. Although it is still early and we don't have official details, the initial indicators, together with mystery images, give great promise to a vehicle capable of changing Mahindra's presence in the global EV space.

Key Features and Highlights

  • Born Electric Design: The platform means the XEV 9S isn’t an electrified SUV that we can already see elsewhere, but a totally built for purpose EV. This allows for a maximized space, stability, and performance.
  • 7-Seater Layout: One sticking point with physical electric SUVs currently on the market is accommodating families. The XEV 9S should offer a spacious three-row option as opposed to the others. The layout will allow families, and distance travelers, space, and comfort.
  • Contemporary Outer Appearance: Expected to take inspiration from the XUV700 Electric prototype (XEV 7e) in terms of design details, we are likely to find connected LED DRLs, a blocked grille, and dual-pod LED headlamps, which will ensure that there is a unique, futuristic face, somewhat similar to the XUV 9e.

  • Technologically-Oriented Cabin: The cabin will feature the same three-screen layout as the XUV 9e, with the digital instrument cluster, infotainment screen, and passenger screen integrated into a single panel. Also, the updated steering wheel design that was spotted in the spy shots also indicate that the cabin will have a premium, tech-oriented look and feel.
  • Battery and Range: Although Mahindra has not yet announced any specifics, it is anticipated that the new model will have a large battery providing a promised range of more than 500 km from a full charge — setting it up with some international competitors.

Overall Impression: The Mahindra XEV 9S seems to represent a quantum leap for the brand — incorporating rugged design, excellent tech, and practicality of a full size an electric SUV. If Mahindra is able to deliver on the promised range and features, the new model could emerge as one of India’s most interesting electric vehicles changing the bar for homegrown EV innovation.
