Husbands in Action Teaser Review: Chaotic Comedy, Explosive Action, And Hilarious Odd-Couple Chemistry On Netflix
Netflix has just released their new action-comedy film "Husbands in Action" and this feature contains loud, chaotic humor with multiple character dynamics leading to frustratingly funny scenarios for the protagonists, too many exaggerated action sequences, and an overall tone that appears to be very whimsical, comedic and fast-paced.
The movie is centered on an unusual mission to rescue someone from being held captive. It brings together two very different men who must cooperate with each other, after two men have been connected through an abduction by criminals looking for retribution against one of their leaders. Husbands in Action combines humorous elements with crime and serious emotional drama that will provide great entertainment value to any fan of buddy-action films.
Storyline
Chung Sik (Jin Sun Kyu) is a ruthless narcotics investigator and has a pretty strained relationship with Min Seok (Gong Myoung), who is a non-threatening vet (they are on opposite ends of the masculine spectrum). They were once both married to the same woman - Si Nae (Kang Hanna) - Chung Sik was her ex-husband, and Min Seok is her current husband.
When Si Nae and her kid are kidnapped by Michaela and the other gangsters, the situation escalates. Michaela is out for revenge against Chung Sik because Chung Sik arrested Hye Ran, the drug lord running the drug forum, and Si Nae’s mom.
The strange chemistry of Jin Sun Kyu and Gong Myoung is central to the plot, as their attempts to rescue each other create a hilarious and entertaining mess of chaos and fun.
Positive Points
The chemistry between Jin Sun Kyu and Gong Myoung is a huge positive aspect of the teaser. They portray characters with such different personalities that they create plenty of funny situations together, which is a delight to see. The action sequences look very energetic and stylish as they communicate energy through visuals, and do not look too contrived or serious. Adding some emotion through family dynamics will add yet another level of depth to this story. Both Kang Hanna and Lee Da Hee have an incredible impact on the audience, despite only being in the teaser for a short period of time. The mix of comedy and action components in the teaser creates a solid mix of both without taking itself too seriously.
Negative Points
Although the premise is interesting, the plot seems a little too predictable. This kind of forced partnership has been used many times in previous action-comedy movies. There are also some jokes in the teaser that may be over-the-top, and may turn some people off of the film.
Overall: All things considered, Husbands in Action has the potential to be a fun, popcorn flick with excellent comedic timing, energetic performances and great action. If the pace and chemistry from the teaser can be maintained for 1 hour and 40 minutes, Husbands in Action should be an entertaining film on June 19th when it debuts on Netflix.
