The trailer for the much-anticipated film "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai" has finally dropped after numerous delays to its release. Directed by David Dhawan, the film brings us back to with another hysterical comedy, this time starring Varun Dhawan as he reprises his leading role in Davidson's legendary style of botched romances. The three minute long trailer is filled with tons of romance, tons of confusion, tons of over-the-top comedy and enough family drama to fill one giant movie and is going to be released in theatres as a blockbuster movie featuring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde as the stars in the movie.

Storyline

The movie starts in a courtroom with Jass (played by Varun Dhawan) and his wife Baani (played by Mrunal Thakur) going through divorce proceedings. In front of the judge, Baani wants to know what Jass's obsession with getting married and finding love is (while he tries to convince the judge that Baani is the cause of all his issues.) But Jass argues to Baani that he just wants a family. The awkwardness of their exchanges in front of the judge sets up the film's tone.

After meeting Preet, Jass's life takes a turn for the worse because he pretended to be available; however romance blossoms quickly but chaos ensues when Baani's unexpected pregnancy becomes known to Jass. Just as Jass tries to comprehend what is going on, Preet drops the same news on him.

Positive Points

There will be plenty of his own expertise as they take a trip down a crazy rollercoaster ride of misunderstandings, emotional highs and lows, dramatic face-offs, and lots of colorful singing that can only be described as “David Dhawan-like”.

He excels at portraying slapstick by using his impeccable comic timing and facial expressions, as well as executing perfectly the signature David Dhawan-style "speedy" humour, confused plotlines and wacky families.

Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde also add to the glamour factor of this film and all the elements of this film. In terms of the music, based upon the re-created title song (that was inspired by Biwi No 1), it would appear to have a lot of flashiness, based upon the trailer.  This film has a lot of colourful visuals to choose from, numerous international locations and a very upbeat soundtrack, all of which contribute to making this a visually appealing piece of work!

Negative Points

The trailer for the film does not provide anything new in terms of laughter and relies mainly on yesterdays style of humour (so, those purists who preferred only original and unique type of humour) will find many of the same jokes used over and over again. The storyline has a lot of elements that have been used in dozens of previous Bollywood movies about love, romance, drama, confusion etc., etc., and has sections that seem very exaggerated to the point of being unrealistic. I believe that those people seeking out "contemporary storytelling" will not have a fresh new experience with this film.

Overall: Movie is a formulaic David Dhawan style light hearted "type" of film with a love story, comedic story, confusional/mystery story and dramatic storyline. Based on the current trailer for the film, it seems to be more of a light-hearted entertainment film for the masses more than anything; therefore, classic Bollywood comedy fans will most likely enjoy, rather than the average person.
