Talking to the media after her historic win, she stated, "I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values." Her victory is also a reflection of the recent decision by the Miss Universe organization. Last year, they announced that there would be no age limits for pageant contestants. Previously, only those women who resided in the age bracket of 18–28 were allowed to compete. From this year on, any woman over the age of 18 is allowed to compete in these competitions.

In a similar vein, another contestant making headlines is Haidy Cruz, a 47-year-old who will represent the Dominican Republic at Miss Universe 2024. Her participation, like Rodriguez's, challenges stereotypes and underscores the evolving landscape of beauty competitions.
